I had heard a lot about the awesome atmosphere inside Huish Park, and so I was eagerly awaiting Lincolns visit there to see for myself what all the fuss was about.

The two stands at the side of the pitch both looked to be very nice little stands, but little is the key word! They weren't small by any means, but the attendance that day was only 4800, and the ground looked to be fairly full. If Yeovil happen to have a huge match coming up, I would say the stadium would not struggle to sell out. The most irritating thing about the ground was the open terracing that we were housed in. About 350 - 400 Imps had made the 10 hour round trip, and all the away regular singers were there. Despite us roaring our lungs out, we failed to generate hardly any noise. This was made apparent by Yeovil constantly singing 'can you hear the Lincoln sing'?

After all I had heard about the atmosphere, I was expecting more than I heard from the covered terracing behind the other goal, a decent structure in itself. There was a fair enough atmosphere from them, but nothing I hadn't heard at various 3rd division grounds before. Then they were silenced when we went 1-0 up, and finally we made ourselves heard by all 400 of us roaring 'your not singing anymore'! Barely had we finished that though, and Yeovil were level, and the noise suddenly went up 5 gears. The knowledgeable crowd got behind their team much more than they had when it was 0-0, and they were rewarded when they scored again in the 86th minute. Then the noise really took our heads off. One particular song 'we all follow the Yeovil....' sent a shiver down our spines, it really ranked with the noise heard at places like Bramall Lane and the KC Stadium, two of the loudest places I have been this season.

Despite having numerous chances, the imps didn't look like scoring, and when we pushed up too far, Yeovil broke and scored again, and we were treated to another rousing rendition of 'we all follow the Yeovil'.

The facilities at the ground were not brilliant, but they were adequate. Its a good job Yeovil don't have many local teams, as if a lot of visitors turned up, there could be problems. The catering staff were a group of teenagers who served 2 at a time, but the service was fairly speedy. The food didn't look too appetising, but tasted superb! The ground is miles from anywhere seemingly, and so you will have to trek around a bit to find a decent pub, or a pub at all for that matter!

All in all a good day out.
