White Hart Lane - Tottenham Hotspur FC
Sunday 20th February 2005
V Nottingham Forest, FA Cup, 3pm

I visited White Hart Lane last Sunday 20/02/05 to watch my beloved Nottingham Forest take on the Spurs in the FA Cup .We arrived by supporters coach & got dropped off outside the ground, we were given a map of the area showing the location of the coach park, where we were to make our way after the game. We walked down Park Lane & headed for the Park public house , this was ok for a few beers before the game, both Home & Away fans frequented the establishment & there were no problems, there was a Police presence outside the pub.

On entering the Away Turnstiles we were searched by the stewards, they were polite & efficient. Once inside the ground you get to appreciate what a good stadium it is, I was on the upper deck with a great view , also with a considerable amount of leg room between seats. Due to a large away following of about 5,000, the stewards inside the ground tried to show their authority by trying to eject some of the away fans for standing up, this was met with little approval & they retreated after clearly failing in their objectives.

The match itself turned out to be a classic FA Cup tie, Spurs taking the lead just before half time, then Forest getting an equalizer in the second half , it was end to end with both teams playing some good football, but ask any Spurs fan Forest had the better chances & could of snatched victory at the end.

Well we were happy & boisterous coming out of the ground, knowing we were still in the hat for the next round. A majority of the Forest fans had to turn left down Park Lane to get to the coach park, we were then greeted by the by the home fans who were mostly heading for the High Road, this is where I felt the Police & Stewards could of eased congestion & tried to segregate both sets of fans, the potential was there for trouble & the amount of police on duty outside the away end was sparse. We walked through the hoards of spurs fans & made our way through the flat complexes to the coach park, a stroll which took about 8 minutes & where caution had to be observed.

On  the whole a great day out, a great stadium & a great atmosphere , looking forward to the replay. Come On You Reds.
