I hadn't been to see
Wolves this season and I figured that as Burnley is one of the closest away
grounds to me I should go along and watch. Went with my dad , he's a man utd fan
but enjoys accompanying me every now and then. Tickets are £19 for adults so
that's pretty good really. The journey to Burnley wasn't bad , but the signs pointing to Turf Moor started brown , and changed to white half way through Burnley so we unfortunately got lost. We eventually did find our way and got to the ground half an hour before kick off. We decided to go straight to the ground. Parked in the cricket ground next to the stadium for £4 , when compared to some places , that is not bad going. The ground itself isn't bad , 2 taller 2 tiered , modern stands (which I wasn't able to enjoy as the away end is old) , and 2 smaller stands showing their age against the two new ones. But they aren't so bad to be honest with you. There are wooden seats in the away end so that tells you half the story. The game kicked off and after about 15 minutes wolves were deservedly 2-0 up , the stewards were cheerful and up for a laugh which was good to see. Atmosphere was flat when we scored our second and we were making the noise. I had a hot dog at half time which wasn't groundbreaking. The stewards caught my dad smoking in the concourse , and pointed to a safety policy sign and said "its up there... somewhere". Which was worth an award if you ask me. 2nd half and wolves took a 3-0 lead , but Burnley persevered and made it 3-1 , but we held on to make it Burnley 1-3 Wolves , which is very pleasing. Getting away from the ground wasn't as bad as other grounds like Preston , and the local fans weren't as bad as what I was told by my friends before I left. Overall I enjoyed my day , the stadium was tidy and a good one , the home fans could have been louder but I guess its hard to be positive when you're 3-0 down. The stewards were friendly and were not heavy handed at all. I would certainly come back again , especially if the game was as watchable as this one. |
