1. Why you were looking forward to going to the ground (or not as the case
I was looking forward to it as it was a chance to tick another ground off the 92 How easy was your journey/finding the ground/car parking? We drove to our usual parking space in London (Southfields) and then got the tube across to Emirates took about 45 minutes to Finsbury park and was an easy journey to make. What you did before the game pub/chippy.... home fans friendly? We went to a pub called the Drayton Arms near to the stadium. Beer was reasonably priced and a good mixture of home and away fans. There was a shop next door and most people bought cans from there and then just drank them outside as it was a nice day. Pub was a 5 minute walk from Arsenal station turn right then left again and you’ll see the stadium on the right and the pub is opposite down on the left. What you thought on seeing the ground, first impressions of away end then other sides of the ground? It looks absolutely huge from the outside and inside not much difference, was easy queuing system to get a beer (pint of Fosters £3.20 or John Smiths, price the same) though they had ran out food at that particular at that kiosk but had them at other kiosks. Seats were padded and excellent views from them, atmosphere wasn’t great despite Arsenal playing well and beating us easily, but the away fans generated a good noise Comment on the game itself, atmosphere, stewards, pies, toilets etc. Game itself Arsenal controlled from first minute to last with them running out 3-1 winners, the stewarding was fairly relaxed compared to some other ground I have visited but still didn’t like our fans standing but did allow in the instruments that some of our fans had (drum, bugle and bell). Toilets very nice wash your hands with hot water (slightly different to Fratton Park!) Comment on getting away from the ground after the game
There was a queue still half an hour after the game to get on the tube (after we
had a swift pint) although the queue moved quickly and seemed well organized. Superb ground and facilities, shame they had ran out of pies in the kiosk where they sold beer even before the game started but all in all one of the best grounds I’ve been to and probably better than the new Wembley. |
